FINA Swimsuit restrictions take effect
This month FINA Swimsuit restrictions will take effect silencing the Speedo LZR controversy surrounding Michael Phelps and other prominent swimmers. The decision made in July 2009 during the World Aquatics Championships, the decison will effect both the usa womens swim team and the men’s.
According to the FINA list the following restrictions have been put in place: 1. Swimsuits for men may not extend above the navel or below the knee and for women may not cover the neck or extend past the shoulders or below the knee, 2. No zippers or other fastenin devices are allowed except for a waist tie on a brief or jammer, and 3. Suits must be of textile materia and must not be made of any rubberized type of material such as polyurethane or neoprane.
