My Uncle’s Obesity Turn-around
Several years ago my uncle was morbidly obese. My entire family worried about his health, and he worried too. After much consideration, he decided to go under the knife for a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, a procedure that reduces the stomach size by about 85%. The procedure had a dramatic effect on his life. He is now nearing normal weight, raising a family, and back to playing basketball. His sleep apnea symptoms have decreased, and his back pain has been alleviated. Aside from some eating restrictions mandated by the surgeon, he lives a completely normal life. We celebrated the anniversary of his surgery last Tuesday.
