The Problem with Google Buzz
Google Buzz is a new social-networking service that integrates with other Google offerings, such as Gmail and Google Wave. Upon its release, users of these other services were prompted to “check out the Buzz” when logging in normally to their Google homepages. Many did so, unaware of how it would connect them to other users that they may or may not wish to be in contact with. For example, one user reported that information about her online activity was now being shown to her abusive ex-boyfriend. In addition, it is very difficult to cancel Google buzz, requiring many steps before a user can undo their initial acceptance. Be very careful that you understand what you are doing before “checking out the Buzz”.
