Doing Research Before Buying
Thursday, November 26th, 2009My ex-boyfriend had at least seven turtles in a big tank in his basement as pets. He knows a lot about how to care for these shelled creatures. First, before you buy pet turtles, you need to do the proper research to know what you are getting yourself into. In order to prepare, it is important to know what kind of turtles you want, how old they will live to be, how big they can grow and what kind of water they need to be raised in. Some turtles can only live in fresh water tanks, while others need salt water. The size of the tank is also an important consideration. My ex said the best tank to start out with is at least five gallons. Turtles need room to swim, but also need some pieces of land to roam on inside the tank. Once you’ve figured all of these things out, it’s probably best to shop around before settling on the first turtle you see. Like with any other pet, It’s important to make sure the shop is reputable before just purchasing your first turtle.
